East Stroudsburg is the most populous municipality in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in the Poconos region of the state. Originally known as "Dansbury", East Stroudsburg was renamed for geographic reasons when the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad opened a station in town. According to the United States Census Bureau, East Stroudsburg Micropolitan Statistical Area (which includes all of Monroe County) is currently listed as the 7th most populous micropolitan statistical area in the Table of United States Micropolitan Statistical Areas with a population of 165,058.
